About
What this site is — and what it isn't.
What this site does
METAR & TAF is an informational decoder for METAR observations and TAF forecasts at US airports. The site fetches the current observation from aviationweather.gov — the FAA / National Weather Service canonical source — and displays each coded field as plain English alongside the raw report.
What this site does not do
- It does not provide flight planning, go/no-go recommendations, or safety advisories.
- It does not compute crosswind components, density altitude, or weight and balance.
- It does not replace an official weather briefing, ForeFlight, or 1800wxbrief.com.
- It does not interpret what the conditions mean for any specific flight.
Disclaimer
Informational only. aviationweather.gov is the canonical FAA source for METAR and TAF data. Always verify against the official briefing for any flight-related decision. Decoded fields shown here are a reading aid; the raw report from the official source is authoritative in any case of doubt.
The site decodes a coded format. The user reads the decoded data and judges what it means for their situation. We do not make that judgment.

Sister site
METAR & TAF is the sister site of A&P Near Me — both are part of the APNearMe network of pilot tools. A&P Near Me lists FAA-certified A&P mechanics and Part 145 repair stations near US general-aviation airports, currently covering California with Texas in progress.
The two sites share a brand mark — the magenta ampersand. Each site is named for the paired aviation acronyms it covers: A & P (Airframe & Powerplant) for mechanics, METAR & TAF (Observation & Forecast) for weather.
Privacy No personal data is collected on this site beyond optional email addresses submitted to the expansion-notification form, which are used only to notify subscribers when APNearMe extends to their state. No tracking cookies. The site uses localStorage to remember saved stations and to dismiss the disclaimer banner.
